"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Is a famous quote that Patrick Henry said in 1775. He gave this quote in a speech about the Samp Act. His quote is timeless and another famous quote he said is “Give me liberty or give me death”! He is also the one that started the boycott against the taxed goods from britain.

His famous speech put the king over the edge! The king declared rebellion on the 13 colonies. So the war officially started! We fought for our freedom and won it with blood, sweat and tears. So that is why we are now one nation.

Patrick Henry the first governor of Virginia after it was no longer a colony was born in Hanover county Virginia. At a Virginia convention said."The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone;it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave". I think Henry was trying to say that our freedom was fought for.And that we will keep fighting to keep that freedom.

Everyone faces a battle in their life, but your physical strength is not what decides the outcome. That is the lesson learned from this quote. The quote, “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; is is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” that was once said by Patrick Henry in the speech “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” is about the battles people face.
This quote is saying about that just because you may be strong physically, you do not have the requirements to win your battle. Everyone is involved in a battle at some point in their life, whether it be physical, mental, or verbal. Your strength will not let you win. The way you win is with courage, vigilance, and taking action. Even the strongest people can be broken down in a battle if they do not have bravery. I think Patrick Henry said this in his speech to point out that their battle, their enemy, was strong. But he was making a point that their strength was not the factor of the outcome. He wanted Americans to be courageous, active, and vigilant, because as long as they were brave and they fought for what they believed in, they had a chance at winning. This is my lesson learned from this quote.

Patrick Henry the first governor of Virginia after it was no longer a colony born in Hanover county Virginia.Once said."The battle, sir,to the strong alone;it is to the Vigilant,The active,The brave". Henry was a patriot during the revolutionary war.But his wife was a loyalist.
Him and his wife had many fights about who would win the war.Until the wife and Henry got a divorce over this argument.Henry then was elected for governor shortly later. And that's what i have learned about Patrick Henry.

My lesson learned about the quote “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave,” is that you don’t have to be strong to fight you just have to be vigilant, active, or brave. This quote is said by Patric Henry when he was speaking in the Virginia Convention in May 3rd, 1775. I never knew what this quote meant until today. I always thought it was just words that people listened to every day. And now i understand that people in 1775 were listening to these words because they are important to America.

The battle doesn't just effect the strong. But it effects every around it. Patrick Henry was the frist governor of Virginia. He served his term from 1776-1784. He wrote this quote in 1753. He had six kids. He was one of the first republicans.

He also wrote the quote "Give me liberty or give death." He was a planter and taught his slaves things about it. He owned 10,000 acres of land. I think this quote means that the battle effects doesn't the people who are fighting. But the family's and the parents. He was the first governor of Virginia. I think he wrote this to tell the british that we were willing to leave our family's so we would be willing to do anything to win.

"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. The colonists were afraid...of nothing. If they were afraid, we would be under the power of Britain, more taxes and living a cruel life.
Patrick Henry said a famous phrase, “Give me Liberty or give me death,” on March 23 1775. Sound familiar? He also said these words to the president. “They tell us, sir, that we are week; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be next week? or next year?” I wasn’t sure at first what he men’t, but I believe it means what it says. The British thought the colonists were week, like they had no competition.

Fight hard and do what you believe in.Patrick Henry said "The battle sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant , the active, the brave."He said this speech in the Liberty or Death Speech.Patrick was a very courages man.You can fight alone you have to be together.Like say if you were on a soccer team. You have to win together or you lose together.
Also Patrick was a lawyer. He was the first governor in Virginia. In the quote i think he is trying to say.You have to participate you and be active. You also have to be vigilant you have to be careful and do what you think is right.Altogether you have to be brave and be yourself and be a leader.Like say it was basketball you have to be active you also have to be brave and be aa leader. Also you have to be vigilant.

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patrick Henry said this in a speech in the Virginia Convention during the year 1775. It was the same speech where the line “Give me liberty, or give me death” was first spoken. But What does it mean. Take a closer look at the time period, compare it to future and past battles.

THe line simply states how they may not have won by law, but they won their brave hearts and blood. Th battle he was talking about had a big impact on our country, the first part might have been how we lost the french and indian war, but we won the revolutionary war. You may not have won the battle you fought by law or physically, you won it by the bravery and the blood put into winning for the things you believed in most.

The people in war are vigilant, active, and brave. Not the strong alone. That is what Patrick Henry said in the Virginia Convention in March 1775. This Convention was during the Revolutionary war. And He was trying to let people know that people in war are normal. And that they are not different than everyone that isn’t in war.
This speech was one the most famous speeches during the Revolutionary war. The speech was “The battle, sir, is not the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave”. It means that the people in war are not just strong, they are vigilant and brave and active. I think this was a great speech because the men in war weren’t just strong because they had to brave because some of them left their families and that’s a hard thing to do.

Big or small, anyone can make a difference. The governor of Virginia in 1775 once said “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patrick Henry, Speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. Patrick Henry’s word were very true. Later that year the Revolutionary war began with the battle of Lexington and Concord. The American Colonist beat the powerful British army and won their freedom. Henry also had a famous quote that is even more famous, “ Give me Liberty or give me death!” He said this at the Virginia convention too.

Patrick was a man of many jobs. He was educated as a lawyer and politician. He was elected to the House of Burgesses, elected to the Continental Congress, was a Virginia militia leader, and also was the governor of Virginia from 1776-1778. Henry was very smart and had brilliant strategies. He knew how to work people and was a great politician that also knew law.

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; Patrick Henry said this speech in the Virginia Convention in the year 1775."Give me liberty, or give me death" was said back then also. The colonists were afraid of nothing. If they where than we would still be led by Britain. My lesson learned is that you don’t have to be strong to fight you just have to be vigilant

The battle cannot be won alone. That’s what I thought when I saw his quote. Patrick Henry was born on May, 29, 1736 in Warcover, Country Virginia. He served in the Virginia House of Burgess.

He was willing to fight for his rights. His Stamp Act resolution was arguable the first shot fired in the Revolutionary war. He wanted freedom. He was willing to die for his freedom. He delivered the famous “give me liberty or give me death.

If you are brave you are never alone. Patrick Henry once said" The battle sir, is not the strong alone,it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." What did Patrick Henry mean when he said this. I think he meant the braver you are the stronger you will be and never have to worry about being alone. Patrick Henry was born May 29,1736.This quote was used in the second session of the Virgina Conversation.
This quote seems very dramatic except that today his site may be under sort of attack. As the first governor, as a member of the house of delegates he did a lot for us. During his final words in his speech for the Virgina Conversation. Patrick Henry said another one of his famous quotes. Give me liberty or give me death. Patrick Henry wanted independence he probably helped us get it today.

Everyone is equal. And that is what Patrick Henry was saying in this quote. “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone, it is to the vigilant, the active, and the brave. Patrick wrote this to his British authority before war. I think that the British thought they were better than everyone else but really everyone is equal.
At the time the British might have been more skilled, or stronger but they wouldn’t be for long. In the part “it is to the vigilant, the active, and the brave.” I think that the colonists were more active and braver, but to be brave don’t you have to be scared? No one can be brave without being a little afraid. So that is why I think you should fight for what you think is right!

A battle can’t be fought alone. “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” ~ Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convection, 1775. This quote was a part of his famous speech, “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death.” He was basically saying that it’s not about how powerful you are alone, it is about how you can protect others from danger, and face your fears. You will never fight a battle by yourself, you will fight with soldiers. With the help of them by your side, you will be incredibly strong.

Who did he try to inspire with this quote? This quote inspired many people during the Revolutionary War. When people heard the name Patrick Henry, they would always remember how much he did for America. He raised people from the ground, by the help of others. He is still very famous today, because of his speech. “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death”. Just remember, even if you think you can do something by yourself, there will always be people there to help you.

“Give me liberty or give me death,” that was said by Patrick Henry in his Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death speech a church in Virginia. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson attended this speech. The speech happened on March 23, 1775. In His speech he had one of his most famous quotes he ever said that is “The battle, Sir, is not to the strong, alone, it is to the vigilant, the active, and to the brave.” He has made other wonderful speeches. This particular one was mainly about Great Britain and how they were lying about making peace, but were really upsetting all of the colonist about all of the rules and regulations that they made up.
Two weeks later approximately they lost the hard copy of the speech. They couldn’t find it for over 30 years. Mr. Henry died 24 years after he gave that speech and the only other people to her is was Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. The paper was very important to the american history. After that speech a lot of people thought that the British needs to step up there game per say. The colonists were very happy with the speech.

Fighting a battle, cannot be done alone. " The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; its to the vigillant, the active, the brave".

What Patrick Henry is relating to is that because you strong does not mean you'll prevail. You might be able to know how to fight, possibly doing it all your life, but it dosen't mean that its necessarily mean your brave, active, vigallant. Being strong will not get you through the battle alone, you need someone to watch your back, and for you to watch theirs. Like the patriots in the war they all fought as a team.

Liberty must tempered by responsibility, to the active and to the brave. that is what I get from what Patrick Henry said during a speech in a Virginia convention.” The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant the active, the brave. - Patrick Henry. The speech Occurred on March 23rd 1775. He was referring to the liberty from the rule of Great Britain. Patrick Henry was encouraging veterans to be strong, active, and brave. The British thought they were better then everyone else. When actually they are equal to everyone around them.

The British may have been Better then everyone along time ago. Only because they had weapons and skilled people. But now everyone else has those things. So The British aren't better then us. They actually the same. when Patrick was saying “ To the vigilant, the active, the brave. He meant it, We are strong, vigilant and brave indeed.

A battle is not a battle, unless you are fighting for something you believe is important. This is what sparked all the war across the countries. It is a worldwide known rule that people on opposite sides are not agreeing on what the problem is.

When i look at this I think of many battles not only in action fighting for our country, but the battles of life. I believe that Patrick Henry is trying to say is that some battles are there so people that are weaker can be stronger. There are not only for the strong but for the weak and the brave. This message is strong, I believe sometimes life can be a battle, a battle to be stronger, a battle to prove yourself, I battle to FIGHT for what you believe in. Life is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. What battle are you fighting right now?

After re-reading and re-reading I finally figured out what this quote means. "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775 . Now, what does this mean to me? Well, I think he is trying to say that the patriots were not alone in the war, they were with the vigilant, the active, and the brave. He is trying to say that all of the patriots were courageous and brave. I think he wants us to respect them, and all the people that were killed fighting for our freedom. And I guess he is trying to say that half of those soldiers were weak and not prepared for this war, but we won! So, you don't have to be super strong to win a war, as long as you try. In the fight its not the strong who wins its the team that is the strong, the stealthy, the vigilant, and most importantly the brave. Patric Henry, the man who said “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patric was a symbol of americas struggle for liberty and self government, this means he was americas hope to become our own country. His quote was saying that everybody who was in the war was important. Not only the strong but also the little guys who are good at out smarting the opposing side. A battle can’t be fought by one man. The quote “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” is describing this. This was said on March 23, 1775 by Patrick Henry at the Virginia convention. When fighting in a war/battle it can’t be done alone. Not one person can defeat a countries army. A war takes teamwork, more than one person.

Patrick Henry was born on May 29, 1736. Patrick was the leader of the militia in 1775. On April 19, 1775 the first shot was taken of the Revolutionary War. Was Patrick Henry talking about the militia he led? Was he talking about what was going to happen in the war about a month later?

Well, I am not exactly sure. Maybe he was trying to let everyone know that the militia was fighting the war the next month as a team. Or he could have been trying to let the United States know the victory goes to those who work together, not as a one man militia/team. Patrick Henry then resigned from the militia leader position 6 months later.

You don’t have to be strong to fight for freedom. Anyone can fight for what they believe in. “The Battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” ~ Patrick Henry, Speech of the Virginia Convention, 1775. Patrick Henry said this as Governor of Virginia, at the Virginia Convention. By “The Battle” he was referring to The Revolutionary War.
Patrick Henry was very loyal to Virginia. He was born there and later became Leader of the Militia in the war. He became Governor a year after becoming Militia leader. George Washington offered him the job of Secretary of State, but he declined. He was not particularly physically “strong”, but he fought a very significant part in the war. He was a leader. He was very vigilant, active, and brave, and that’s all he needs. He needed to be able to set that example for the soldiers. That is what he was trying to pass on to the Virginians he gave his speech to at the convention.

Such strong words from a man who it not only a politician but a planter and a attorney and who put thought into his work. In Patrick Henry’s quote he was trying to get across that 1 will always lost to a team or group that works together. To make a strong team or group you have to be brave and willing to sacrifice your life for others and to be active to help those who are doing what they have to do to help the team. You have to earn it when it is given to you as an option even if it does require you to be anxious worried or make you shaky. When give a choice to work alone or group the smarter choice is to work as a team.

Your not aloud to have a problem alone. My dad has been telling me this my whole life and this is what came to my mind when I first heard the quote by Patrick Henry, “The battle sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patrick truly lived out to that quote. When he spoke these words he spoke the truth and I’m sure when people heard it they wanted to take action and get involved in America.
Patrick was born on May 29th 1736 in Virginia. He was the second oldest on nine and just like his one older brother was schooled mostly by his father. When he was the age of 15 he ran a store for his dad, but they didn’t get good business and the store failed. Then he married Sara Shelton, and got married a total of 3 times and had 17 children total. After 6 months on being in the war, Patrick Henry resigned to help wright the constitution of the states.
Patrick didn’t have a hard life. He had a important life and he changed America forever. I’m sure that though out his life he had his number of troubles, and had help with them. Also I’m sure that he helped many people.

You do not have to be physically strong to fight for what you want. Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”, speech said in 1775 gives off this message. Patricks speech was said on March 23rd in Virginia during the Revolutionary War. This speech has expired many people. If you read into the speech you will see the quote "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." I believe that Patrick Henry was trying to say when he said this that anyone can fight.
“It is not to the strong alone.” (pg.1) means that its not only the strong who can help. If you are willing to help you are helping. Some people in the war were not the strongest some could not even hold there gun on their own. Most of the Patriots in the army were just vigilant, or active, and they were definitely brave because they were willing to die for their country. Even if you were not strong enough to do something would you still try?

"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." said by Patrick Henry in 1775 to me means that you can buy freedom, it just doesn’t come to you. What he means in “The battle, sir, it not to the strong alone;” is that the war may effect many people and it is a strong thing that people are dying but that if there is just one war it is not strong because there has to be more than just one war in the world! Also what “it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” that means to me that you don’t have to brave or have to be active to be to be in the war is that you are will to give up for life for fight for other life’s.

Patrick Henry once said “give me liberty or give me death.” he said that before the virginia house in 1774 before the Declaration of Independence. What this mean to me is that if you don’t give him and us liberty, if you don’t give us freedom, then just kill us because it’s not far not to have freedom. Not able to do what we want. Yes there still had to be the law for “No drinking and driving.” because that is keeping us safe.

When you are in the war know matter what your strength is you will always want a partner. “You cannot do anything alone” (Pg.1) you need someone or a few someones to help you along. This quote said by Patrick Henry was said in the speech “liberty or death”(www.milestonedocuments.com)
in 1775 on march 23 in Virginia meeting house. He was there because he was protecting against the British Crown saying that the British should not have the right to control the colonists and that the colonists should have there own government and there own way of running things.
To most this quote means that “No matter how strong you are, the weak, the brave, the vigilant, and the active can all make as big of difference as you.” (www.u-s-history.com) To me this quote means not just that but that “The world can be better with anyone who is willing to make it better.” With that said the world is only the way it is now because of the people who were brave and vigilant enough to make it this way. So remember “Not only the strong can fight!”

“The battle sir is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active the brave.” This quote was written by Patrick Henry. He gave it as a speech in the Virginia Convention in the year or 1775. To me this quote is saying that it’s not just strong people going to battle they are also always aware, energetic and brave. Patrick Henry protested British tyranny so he was not a loyalist. Patrick Henry fought for liberty and once said “give me liberty or give me death.” He believed that he could get liberty.
I found another quote that Patrick Henry once said “We are not weak if we make proper use of those means which the God of Nature has placed in our power. This quote I think is similar to the one before, this one I think says we are strong if we use the right use of the means of the God of Nature placed in our possession. Patrick Henry I think wants everyone to know that they are strong, brave and active. “ It’s not to the strong alone: it is to the vigilant, the active and the brave.”

Battles are fought together! Patrick Henry wrote a quote in 1775 about battles. He said “The battle, sir, is not one by the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” To me in this quote what he is saying is battles aren’t one by strong men and women. They are are one by people who are intelligent, courageous, and the active.

Battles are fought with brave and intelligent men and women. They are won with hard working active soldiers. What it means for them to be active is for them to be finding every possible way to win or to help out, or in some cases just to end the war. Intelligence is a big thing too. You must fight with smarts not just say “Ok, this militia will go shoot these guys and you guys go throw rocks at the men marching through boston.” That would be a complete and utterly stupid thing to send people to do. How courageous you army is will also benefit you. You need men and women who will rush into battle and die for the cause. Vigilant, active, and brave men and women is key. That is what Patrick Henry’s quote said to me.

To be successful in war, teamwork between the strong and the brave is the key to success. “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; its to the vigilant, the active, the brave”, said Patrick Henry at the Virginia Convention back in 1775. This statement was used in one of the most infamous speeches ever given. Do the words, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” ring a bell? The speech was made to give information to the president about the preparation being made for war against the British soldiers, says u-s-history.com. But the most important part about this statement this the true meaning of it.
Teamwork is key to any situation in life. Part of the concept of war is to work together as a team to take down the opposing side. But you can’t just have a bunch of strong, burly men on one side. They would lose the war. To win a war, you need a good balance of strong, burly men and the brave,vigilant- the intelligent men. These men have to work together to find success. And sure enough, they did. To be successful in war, teamwork between the strong and the brave is the key to success.

You can never fight a battle alone, "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. You can never fight a battle alone, You always have to have at least one person to fight against. A battle or fight can not be won alone you have to work as a team to win. In this quote he is talking about the Revolutionary War. You can not win a war alone you have to have a partner or team.

All people that believe in freedom deserve to be able to fight if that is what they believe. Everyone who who is willing to fight should fight, even if they aren’t the strongest or the most coordinated or anything just as long as they are willing. Everything was at stake at the times and having as many people as they can is very helpful and useful.
The quote was written by a man named Patrick Henry in 1775. Patrick Henry protested against British tyranny. He fought against the british and how they were over using their power and abusing it. They were over using their authority, and for the wrong reason. The quote was most likely written for the Revolutionary war and for the patriots.

“The battle, sir, is not to strong alone it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Said Patrick henry. What I think this weeks quote is about is about the ones who are fighting for us in the Revolutionary war that they are the active the brave. When The writer says, “The battle, sir, is not to strong alone. I think it is a solider talking to the general about how there army in getting stronger but at the same time weaker. I don't like war but we had to fight for our freedom so I guess that is a good thing that we won our freedom but we still need to pay because it isn't free.

Every one has there own abilities to help our freedom. I am positive that Patrick Henry agrees with this thought. Patrick Henry was the person who gave the give me liberty or give me death speech (www.history.org). He clearly believed that anyone who can fight strong or not should so we could free our country. Patrick Henry call to arms carried over protest from more conservative patriots, and was one of the causes of the order lord Punmore, the royal government to remove gun powder (www.ushistory.org).
In 1776 Patrick Henry was elected Governor of Virginia. You would think that somebody that was Governor of Virginia for 5 terms that he would have been obedient as a child but “though everyone knew he was bright he simple would not lift a finger except to his own pleashue” (www.ushistory.org). Well he was a rebel and a good leader. He could inspire people and he knew that anyone can help in a war.

No matter the size of your army only one person can’t make a difference. The whole army has to come together and fight if they want to win. Patrick Henry Virginia’s governor from 1776 to 1779. Patrick was a well known patriot. He was willing to die for his country just like any other colonist out there.
"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry said these words during the revolutionary war. The words that he said meant that the working, the careful and the non afraid will help win the war. Well Patrick Henry was right. Many people became involved and helped win the war. The strongest people on the outside, are not always the strongest on the inside too. When you think of a battle, you would most likely want the physically strong fighting for you. If you think about it though, just being physically strong is not enough. Mental abilities are just as important. Having strategies, and being brave can help tremendously.
This quote by Patrick Henry was said during the Revolutionary War. There must have been much stress on everyone because of the war. Everyone was relying on the men fighting to bring home a victory. His quote was a reassuring thing, to say that we have a chance if we work together and come up with a plan that will work. Having a solid strategy and teamwork helped them win the war.

"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. Most people probable know the line “give me liberty or give me death” Patrick Henry , that was also by Patrick Henry. Patrick henry was a store keeper and tobacco farmer. Then he started to practice law and started to try to get people to take up arms at the british. He was eventually elected governor of Virginia. Now there are many many many things named after him.
The quote is about how being strong is not the thing that will win you anything. It is bravery, being observant, and active. We can win over people who are “strong” is we have the capability over them. Or if we play it smart we can win anything over people that are “strong”. It could also mean everyone is important not just the strong or that the strong takes many people to be.

Your weak alone but together with other soldiers you’re strong. The man who said “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone ; it is the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patrick Henry speech in the Virginia convection 1775. He was meaning the brave go into the war and watch for vigilance to keep their lives. Vigilance means to watch for violence.

Another meaning was a battle can not be won with one man it must be won with many brave soldiers. They must have brave soldiers to help out one another. When he said “the active” he was probably referring to the active soldiers in the army. I was guessing he was talking to a man in charge cause he said “ The battle, sir”. This speech probably motivated the brave soldiers in the army.

“The battle sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave,” -Patrick Henry. I think this speech means whoever wants to can make a difference. You have to be vigilant, active and brave. Also, nobody can make a change alone, changes are only made together. This was spoken in the Virginia Convention in 1775. when Patrick was the governor. The speech was referring to the Revolutionary War.
Patrick was born in Virginia on May 29, 1799. He was a very brilliant man that was involved in many different jobs. Patrick was an attorney, planter, and a politician. He was also elected House of Burgesses, Virginia militia leader, Governor of Virginia, and in the Continental Congress. He is remembered for his “Give me liberty, or give me death,” speech. America is stronger together then we are fighting alone. That is my lessons learned from Patrick Henry’s quote, “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” This was part of his speech in 1755 at the Virginia Convection. The Virginia Convection were a series of five political meeting in the Colony of Virginia during the American Revolution.
Patrick finished this speech with the famous word, “Give me Liberty or give me death!” I completely agree with these words. This speech was given on March 23, 1775. 26 days later Paul Revere and William Dawes warn the 13 Colonies “The British are coming.”

War is not about the fighting, but the vigilant, active, and brave people that fight it. This was my remake of the saying, “The battle sir, is not to the strong alone; it is the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Patrick Henry speech in the Virginia Convention 1775. While I was researching this statement I found out that Patrick Henry was an attorney, planter, and politician who was an order during the movement for independence in the 1770s. When I actual thought about this, I realized that this man was very busy and then he want to be part of the Virginia Convention. This man was crazy and I would never be able to do all of that! This statement also made me think what war was all about. Is it the battles, the conflicts, or the soldiers.
Then I started researching those three words. Vigilant, active, and brave. It came to me; war is not about the fighting, but what people fight the fight. One man says, “I will never be a soldier because I am not brave. Only brave man shall fight!” wiki.answers.com/. I got the picture there, don’t fight unless you are brave! As John F. Kennedy said, “Humans must end war or war will end humidity” Ms. Thompson’s president wall, he was right because do you know how many people die each war? There is not an answer to that question. All i’m trying to say that is it doesn’t take any man to fight in war, but the vigilant, active, and brave!

Do you really love America? Patrick Henry a lawyer and politician born May 29th 1736 in Hanover county Virginia. Mr. Henry came from a farming family and from the moment he was born his dad knew that he was not going to be a farmer, so he sent him to a business school. From there he served in the House of Burgess and Continental Congress. Patrick Henry was elected governor in 1776 for Virginia. He was head of the militia of Virginia.

Expose what is in the heart is what I firmly believe Patrick Henry was trying to get across. As head of the militia he had men who were all different in size and strength. I believe what he was trying to say is it doesn’t matter if your strong it matters what is in side of your heart and how you feel about America. If your willing to fight for this beautiful country then fight. If your brave and strong and willing to lay down your life. Then come and fight.

To be brave, you have to conquer your fears. Patrick Henry stated, "The battle, sir, is not that strong alone; It is the vigilant, the active, the brave." Which means brave people go and fight for our country every day, and some come back. All of the soldiers know, that they might not come back alive. But they fight anyway. For our freedom.
Patrick was the Governor of Virginia. He also proposed the "Stamp Act Resolutions". He was a STRONG critic of the Constitution. He declined his place in the office of Secretary Of State because he didn't want the job. He gave up something other people wanted for him, so he could be happy. He was brave.

The want to fight for your country will bring you father than any great strength. You do not have to be strong to fight for your country. "The battle, sir, is not for the strong alone, it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry once said this in his speech at the Virginia covention, 1775. Patrick Henry was a man of liberty. He once said "Give me liberty or give me death." (libertyonline.hypermall.com)By this I think he meant he would rather die than go without freedom, rights, and liberty. He spoke these words when liberty was being fought for from the king.

Patrick Henry's speech quoute means that a battle needs more than just strength. To be strong is a good attribute, but anyone should be able to fight for the country. "It is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." That means that in a battle you need people who are careful, or watchful. You also need people who are physically active, and people are are brave, or corageous. Anyone who believes in what your fighting for would be a help to your army, not just the people with great strength.

It takes all kinds to be strong in war. This pretty much captures the point Patrick Henry was trying to make in his quote “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” - Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. To have a utopia-like community, you need a wide variety of personality types, characters, and qualities. This is the same in war. If you have a strong army, it is often perceived that you have a team of extremely strong men herded like bulls that are ready to fight. This is not the case at all. In order to have a successful, winning army you need all types. Yes, there will be some people who are extremely strong, but there will also be people of extreme vigilance, fitness, braveness, and activeness.
Patrick Henry was an extremely wise man. “Patrick Henry was a lawyer and politician originally from Virginia.” - www.ushistory.org. He was a very aggressive man and was never afraid to voice his opinion about things. “In 1776, Henry was elected governor of Virginia. He was reelected for three terms and then succeeded by Thomas Jefferson.” - www.ushistory.org. Because of Henry’s qualities listed above, he made an excellent governor; being able to speak for his community and voice their concerns, but also being able to keep his own independent sector under control. He was also an exceptional orator; meaning that he excelled in public speaking. According to www.ushistory.org “Henry’s reputation as a passionate and fiery orator exceeded even that of Samuel Adams.” This is a very high compliment considering that Samuel Adams was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was a leader of the Boston Tea Party, and served in the first and second continental congresses from 1774-5. In conclusion, Patrick Henry was a fairly important man, and spoke words of wisdom to all American people in his time as an adult.

On March 23rd 1775, Patrick Henry wrote a letter to the president. The letter was titled “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”. In this contains a very strong idle quote that practically summarizes the whole letter. “The battle, sir, is not to the strong; it is vigilant, the active, the brave.” This quote means that not one can go into battle alone and face something to that extreme.
But if there is more than one than they will be more brae and active and vigilant and that’s how our country should act. Patrick Henry was a lawyer and a politician. “On the 23rd Henry presented a proposal to organize a volunteer company of cavalry or infantry in every Virginia country”.- (history.org) Henry also gave a speech to a lot of people. His speech contained lots of the same things that the letter did. Patrick Henry was a man who believed and doesn’t give up till he makes his purpose.

As a country we will not lay down and let another country walk all over us. In his speech in the Virginia Convention in 1775, Patrick Henry said,"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." This was just before the Revolutionary War began. He said we have been given millions of people, a purpose of liberty and we will not be beat.
I believe we as a nation are not only strong physically, but we watch out for one another. We speak up even if what we believe may seem offensive to someone, that makes us a strong nation and we stand by one another which makes us a brave nation. We can win any battle any country brings to us. Patrick Henry’s closing words in his speech were, “Give me liberty or give me death!”

The war itself is not strong alone. The war included being strong, either physical or mentally. It included being vigilant, active, and brave. Being vigilant was being dedicated to the war, and believing in what was being fought about. Active was being part of the war, and brave was being strong and confident.

Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. I think this means that Patriots or Loyalists are not alone in this war there is the vigilant, the active, and the brave too. It was the same speech where the line “Give me liberty, or give me death” was first spoken. But What does it mean. Take a closer look at the time period, compare it to future and past battles.

The line simply states how they may not have won by law, but they won their brave hearts and blood. The battle he was talking about had a big impact on our country, the first part might have been how we lost the french and Indian war, but we won the revolutionary war. You may not have won the battle you fought by law or physically, you won it by the bravery and the blood put into winning for the things you believed in most. Kind of like in baseball everything is going good until the ninth inning then someone gets a grand slam and you lose.

Also when someone hits you and you hit them back you say. “He started it!” Anyway the point is you end up in trouble too. If you think of peace in a moment like that and tell the teacher he gets in trouble. Not you. To conclude you can fight back but will most likely fail or die.

On 1775, famous judge Patrick Henry made the quote, “the battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” This quote means that it is more important to be watchful, active, and courageous than to be strong. These three things are most important in battles. You may be powerful, but you may not stand a chance against the brave souls willing to risk their life for what they believe is right.

Remember, courage does not mean “not afraid”, it means knowing that there is something more important than fear. The soldiers from both sides might be horrified at the thought of losing their life. But they fight anyway. Both sides of a battle or war are very strong about what they believe is right, and are willing to fight to the death to get that right. Being careful and constantly on the move is also very important. That`s how countries have won against large empires or forces, like the Greeks against the Romans, or Native Americans against the British. They carefully made strategies to become victorious. There is more than just powerful people fighting in battle. It might be Billybob from across the street, fighting in the war, because he does not want to have to pay taxes to the British.

Just by reading this quote you can get a general meaning of what this is and what this is supposed to mean. It symbolizes that a war is not just those who go into the fight bearing arms, it is the people who supply those weapons or those who make the battle plans and other people. It is not just brute force that wins wars it is the balance of brains and force that wins the battle. Who have you seen who has won a war just by sending an army and its over, if you answered yes than I would like to see that, but chances are you haven’t and that is because you don’t you win it with knowledge and experience. Now the brave the vigilant, and the active are the people who wins wars and who make the difference from one side than the other.

What Patrick Henry meant by the quote "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." was that the british will not win the war be being stronger or bigger, but neither will we. What he was trying to say that the only way to win was dump out hearts in to the war give it everything we got no matter the size of the enemy. We needed to fight like we meant it! Patrick henry believed that america could be free if we all came together and fought as if we were a big family. All we had to do was fight with courage and we did and won the war.

Patrick henry was the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of virginia, from 1776 to 1779 and from 1784 to 1786. He was born on May 29th 1736 in Studley Virginia. He was also known for the Quote “Give me Liberty or give me Death!’’ Patrick was a very interesting yet influencing man.

We are all brave! “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active the brave.” Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775. On the 23rd Henry presented a proposal to organize a volunteer company of cavalry or infinity in every Virginia county. “Give me liberty or give me death”
I think this is saying how through all fights we are strong with help. He is saying the battle for active and brave which is probably the people fighting maybe from the army. We all play a part.

Battle is for those who need freedom. That is the lesson learned for the quote that Patrick Henry has wrote. His quote was “The battle, sir is not for the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”
He wrote this in March 23, 1775 at the Virginia Convention. He said a whole speech with his quote. He said “Sir, we shall, not fight, our battles alone. There is just God who presides over the destinies of nations......

What Patrick Henry meant by the quote "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." was that the british will not win the war be being stronger or bigger, but neither will we. Be brave and be strong. Do you hear about every single death in the military. No you dont, its not important that they die for our freedom, the only important thing to us is our freedom alone. We need to start looking past just the front cover of the war and look toward the brave souls that fought for our freedom. Have you ever heard of that saying "Never judge a book by its cover"? Well it kinda reminds me of the war and we only think of our freedom not the brave men that fight for us. "The battle , sir, is not to the strong alone; it is the vigilant , the brave." -Patrick Henry

Give me Liberty or give me death. Patrick Henry fought for his liberty and if I was in his shoes I would do the same too. If I did not get liberty then I would say the same thing. He was tired of the King rules and everything else. Now a days we have liberty and I am glad to have it. If it was not a ig part of patrick henry we would maybe not had liberty to this day.

The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. was used by Patrick Henry. In 1775, I see what he is trying to say, he is trying to say that to win a battle, the strong people will not always win. it will be the vigilant, the active, the brave. It would go to the people who are smart.
Patrick Henry used it in a speech in the virginia convention. He was probably a patriot because what he was saying in this speech. and how he said it.

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active the brave.” Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, on March 23 1775. It is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope and pride. "If we wish to be free; if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending; if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained — we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms, and to the God of hosts, is all that is left us."- Patrick Henry

Nothing in the world is an instrument. You have to put effort
into every thing you do. Like in a sport you have to put
effort into it or you are not doing anything.

Nothing in the world is an instrument. If you do not put effort in to stuff. You will not
be good at every thing. You have to try in every thing or you will
improve in anything. So you have to put effort in to every thing you do.

Now what could hw hVE Possibly ment by that? dont you half to strong to be in war? well u do but it deepens what your strong in. weather your strong in math startagies or your just strong. The point he was trying to get a cross was that they needed evryone to win the war even if they wernt the strongest. you still could have had a strength that the army cold have needed to win the war, and there did need it they needed everyone because they knew what they wer up against

"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.", Patrick Henry speech the Virginia Convention,March 23 1775. thought most say it is the day he made the quote give me liberty or give me death who knows maybe he made thoughts quotes on the same day. this quote reminds my of another quote. “you never know if you have valor, duty, and bravery, in your heart until it is tested.”

Patrick Henry “also made the give me liberty or give me death” quote if you didn’t know. the full quote which is a part of the original quote I used. “Is the millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not strong alone; it is to vigilant, the active, the brave. ... I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.

The saying "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Convention, 1775, i think it means will and determination is most important in overcoming most obstacles in life. If the American Revolution was a football game, the English would have been favored by 4 touchdowns, but as we all know the Americans won. Even though they where greatly over matched. The Americans where fighting for their freedom, and their will and determination allowed them to defeat a far superior opponent.
Patrick Henry’s quote is relevant in many aspects of all of our lives today, just as it was back in the Revolution. If your playing in a basketball game and you already think your going to lose then you have less of a chance to win. If your taking a class that you don't think you will do well in the you probably wont do good in that class. Those are the some examples. Thats what the saying means.

Patrick Henry wrote "The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave." This means that America is together. The battle was not for individual freedom it was to have freedom for all. The battle that was going on, you had to be very brave to earn what you wanted. When they got what they wanted, they felt very accomplished.

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” said by Patrick Henry, in 1775. I think this quote is saying some important things. Battle isn’t only about being strong. It’s about having the courage and passion to stand up for something you love. If you were just strong, but didn’t have the courage to stand up for what you believe in and fight for it, what good is that strength? Yes, you could use it for brute hard work, but when it all comes down to it, there’s more to a warrior than strength. You need to have that drive in you that propels you to your goals.
War isn’t just pertaining to the battlefield, either. There are politics involved also. This person isn’t doing that, or that person is doing too much of this, and so on. Usually, in my opinion, war is really just petty disagreements between highly thought of people. Now, that’s not always the case, but if you think about it, war all comes down to usually one person or a group of people. So, if you really think about it, strength isn’t everything.

Patrick Henry, was known for various things including being elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1765, being elected to the Continental Congress in 1774, and was a Virginia militia leader in 1775. He was also the first governor of Virginia. This quote is from the speech in the Virginia Convention in 1775, also known as the “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech.
Patrick Henry was referring to the America Revolution in this speech. At this time, they were still ruled by the British and wanted to break free. He was expressing and suggesting that Virginia took part in the Revolution as well, so the colonies could become stronger against the British. He strongly believed that it wasn’t worth living, if you didn’t have liberty.
There are other qualities equal to strength. In this quote, it was intended to encourage Virginia to become part of the America Revolution against the British. Patrick Henry was explaining that they might not have the strength that the British had, like the guns and the highly trained soldiers, but they had skills too, that the British didn’t have. Those skills included, vigilance, and bravery, mentioned in the quote. Although they didn’t have much of the strength, they had enough of the other skills to defeat the British, which they proved by the victory of the Revolution.

Just by reading this quote you can get a general meaning of what this is and what this is supposed to mean. It symbolizes that a war is not just those who go into the fight bearing arms, it is the people who supply those weapons or those who make the battle plans and other people.

Thomas Jefferson could’ve meant a lot of things when he said, “the cement of this union is in the heart blood of every American”. I think he meant that it doesn’t matter how strong the economy is, or how strong our army is. What matters is how strong the willpower of the people is. If there weren’t any strong-willed people in this nation to fight for our freedom, we wouldn’t have a nation to fight for. If we didn’t have people that were good at debating and economics, we wouldn’t have any economy at all.
Initially, when Thomas Jefferson said “cement” I immediately though of cities. Was the quote going to talk about industrialization? Then I decided not to judge so fast, so I read on. I came to “heart blood” and thought, gruesome... What was he talking about now? I looked it over again and read it all as a whole. This time it made more sense; everything clicked. The lesson learned here is that if everyone works together, we are stronger as a group.
